Basics for Bignars
Kragruk to your first lesson of Gobbledegook! Since you’re all bignars -- that’s Goblish for beginners -- we’re going to be starting with the basics.
The Alphabet
Remember when you first learned the alphabet in English? Yeah, you’re going to want to forget all of that. Here are the only letters you’ll need in Gobbledegook:
Consonants: B D FF G H K L N P R T V Z
Vowels: A Aa I O Oo U
Not too difficult, right? In fact, this part has been made a lot easier over the years thanks to the romanization of the Gobbledegook alphabet. It’s comparable to Chinese pinyin or Japanese romaji. And lucky for you, it’s all you’ll need for this class.
On top of that, Gobbledegook is made even more simple because the letters can only be used in a certain order. Let’s figure out how to write out some words.

Word Structure
Goblins tend to be more succinct, and their language is a reflection of that. Words in Gobbledegook are made up of no more than two syllables, with the most commonly used words containing just one syllable to make communication as brief as possible.
One-Syllable Words
One-syllable words consist of a consonant (or occasionally, two) combined with a vowel and another consonant to create a closed syllable.
Examples: blug, grook, klaak, vak |
|
Two-Syllable Words
Two-syllable words are similar. The same concept is applied to the first syllable, then a single consonant is used to connect it to another vowel and consonant.
Examples: bladvak, gigrud, narnot, kragruk |
